The Earth Element
Let’s talk about the Earth Element as it is the season of Late Summer, which relates to the Earth Element.
Earth represents the centre of gravity, a point of reference to which all other aspects of character and structure align to.
The Earth Element in Balance
Within a person with this element in balance can be a compassionate person; they may be the peacemaker. Embodying friendship, nourishment, caring and recognition. Negotiating peace for its own sake, a balancer and stabiliser and preserver of families and society.
The Earth Element Strengths and Challenges
When your Earth element is strong, you nourish yourself and find balance in your world and those around you. The Earth element helps you find your centre and your home.

The Stomach and Spleen
The Stomach and Spleen are the organs of Earth
The organs function on a physical and emotional level. To digest and assimilate foods and thoughts.
The Spleen receives and shares solid and liquid into perceptions and ideas.
The Stomach incorporates food and experience into the substance of who we are.
Caring for your Earth Element
- Be kind to yourself, find a space in each day that you give yourself some peace, this could be some time in your garden or nature
- Meditation is different with each person, and life situations 5 minutes focusing on your breath, a class with sound and calm, Yoga Nidra and deep restful meditation, a walking meditation, yoga movement with breath, yin yoga, still deep poses, Qi-gong movement and stillness.
- Eat a balanced diet, not overindulging in sugars and heavy foods such as meats and dairy, which puts strain on the digestion. Feast and Famine eat regular meals, but rest your digestion between. Much is said nowadays about fasting – your natural long fast is the night – do not eat late into the evening, let your digestion rest overnight
- Move finding flow. This may be yoga, but can be walking in the hills or swimming, not pushing to extremes, else you may become depleted, slowly get stronger, finding your limits and balance.
