Hip Pain: Acupuncture

Hip Pain: Acupuncture

Acupuncture can help your Hip Pain

Hip pain occurs for many reasons, and at any age could be from injury to the tendons, muscles or joints, from overuse or underuse, due to hormonal changes in menopause, sports injuries, and aging. Acupuncture can help you manage your pain and in some cases relieve it and support you to find your way to help yourself and get further help you may need.

Acupuncture in the bigger picture

Many patients come to acupuncture when they start with pain. Acupuncture treats by

  • Trigging release of natural painkillers (endorphins)
  • Reduce inflammation and improve blood flow.
  • Relax tight muscles around the hip and back
  • Help recovery from injury and surgery
  • Help long term and chronic pain
  • Holistically support the whole system
  • Help and advice

Holistic Care

In my practice I treat and support patients to help be able: for example to do the exercises the physio has prescribed, have the confidence to go back to the GP and ask for further investigations, support patients alongside other treatments and surgeries that may be needed, to help with rehabilitation in mind and body.

Traditional acupuncture is a good tool to aid hip pain recovery, as we asses your whole system looking at how hip pain may have started and how affecting other parts of your system. Such as pain in the other leg, hip and back due to twisting and putting too much weight on the good side. Arm and shoulder pain from using sticks and crutches. Weight gain, worries about diabetes. Loss of fitness, not being able to work or drive, can cause stress and worry.

Acupuncture treats Holisticly so we start at the hip and look after all of your systems to ensure health and wellbeing. We have the time to get you on the right track again, supporting your recovery in Body, Mind and Spirit

Menopausal Hip Pain

  • Is very real and very common. It’s not “just aging”; it’s largely driven by hormonal changes, especially falling oestrogen.
  • Menopause joint pain, also known as menopausal arthralgia, is a common symptom experienced by women during the menopause.
  • Menopausal arthralgia can affect various joints, including the hands, knees, hips, or spine. Women may experience aching, stiffness, and swelling in the joints.
  • Acupuncture can help and support, to reduce pain and encourage patients to get more help such as HRT if appropriate, DEXA scan for osteoporosis, physio, exercise and confidence to be assertive about getting the help they need.
