Spring Light

Spring Light

Balancing your System

Spring has arrived the light is building time to embrace nature’s gifts. The days become warmer and brighter as nature rises from the inward deep time of Winter. The new growth of Spring arises, a time to allow the gift of light in and balance your days and wellbeing.

Circadian Rhythm

Light balances each day within you and in nature. Claiming the increase in light can help balance your circadian rhythm

Your circadian rhythm is your body and mind’s internal clock over the 24 hours of day and night. This continually runs in your system carrying out essential functions and processes. The circadian rhythm is set each day by the rising sun.

Your system’s internal clock is naturally aligned to this cycle of day and night. However, your actions can upset this rhythm causing sleep problems.

Work, shift work, travel, family, stress, illness, or underlying issues can disrupt this rhythm.

Keeping a good constant sleeping and waking routine and regular meal times are aspects that can help maintain a healthy circadian rhythm.

Morning Light

Therefore Spring is a good time to start new habits to improve your circadian rhythm. When you wake up, you can go outside either for a walk or into your garden or balcony or any available outside space, a least before 9 am – Blue light. Exposing your skin and eyes to the fresh bright early morning light for about 20 minutes can have a beneficial impact on your health and wellbeing and getting a good dose of Vitamin D. Of course, overexposure to the sun can be bad for your skin and eyes so don’t overdo it.

As there is more light as Spring rises get out as much as you can. As well as your early morning sun exposure get out in the day, pop out at lunchtime, go for walk after supper. Even sitting in the shade can improve your wellbeing. Many people spend less than half an hour a day in the open air – you can change this with small actions of time outside.

Lack of Sunlight and over Exposure to  Artificial Light

A lack of sunlight and over exposure to artificial light esspecially in the evening and night time can affect your defence mechanisms. This can affect mood, increase depression, heart disease , diabeties, increasing metabolic disorders due to disruption of your circadian rhythm.
