Yin and Yang
One of the beautiful concepts of Traditional Five Element Acupuncture is that of Yin and Yang, helping to live life in balance. Each of the Five Elements has Yin and Yang within them. Yin is feminine in nature, cool, moist and nourishing; it contains the lunar qualities of stillness, rest, and receptivity. Yang on the other hand, is masculine in nature, warm, trans-formative, generative; it contains the solar energies of activity, initiation and doing. These two energies are interdependent, we can’t have one without the other. Treatment with Acupuncture for fertility calls on us to look at our life in terms of Yin and Yang to see how we can find the middle path, to find more balance. Pregnancy is a time of Yin, a season of intensity of the feminine, though there is always Yang to provide movement, transformation and growth.
The Wood Element
The Wood Element is about keeping energy flowing. When this element is imbalanced you could feel stuck, sigh a lot and/or be sexually frustrated. When the energy is flowing you have passion and like to explore. The Wood Element asks you to communicate to your partner about your likes, to keep the flow of love going.
Detoxification
Another aspect of the Wood Element is the Liver energy (Qi) this is involved in detoxification, though can become overloaded in modern life. Eliminating alcohol, caffeine, sugar, smoking, in home and garden look at the toxins that can be cleared. A great book to read to help with this is- Imperfectly Natural Woman – Getting Life Right the Natural Way by Janey Lee Grace. Cleansing the system of toxins when planning for pregnancy, is a extremely positive gift to give yourself. Assisted Conception like IVF or IUI can put extra strain on the Liver therefore good to start with a clearer system. Eating a diet high in antioxidants such as Broccoli, spinach, carrots and potatoes, artichokes, cabbage, asparagus, avocados, beetroot, radish, lettuce, sweet potatoes, squash, pumpkin and kale, is helpful to ready you system for pregnancy.
Emotions
On the intimate front the Liver energy opens to the eyes. Take the opportunity to look at your partner. Eye gazing is a great way to create intimacy. The emotions related to the Wood Element can come out in Anger and Frustration, Wood can be passionate energy for new life. The Wood Qi directs the sperm to the egg.
Depletion
In Modern society many women do not have much time to be within their Yin Qi, to appreciate the feminine, nurturing and creativity of a quite space. Life can be very busy and full depleting the Yang Qi. Often by the time many women start to look at starting a family maybe in their 30’s or 40’s their system is depleted and extra care is needed.
New Life
This is where Acupuncture can help bring back the balance needed to bring new life. Before going down the chemical route balance your Body, Mind and Spirit with Traditional Five Element Acupuncture. Acupuncture can help you conceive naturally or help you with assisted conception, caring for you before and during the transformation of pregnancy into a new life.
