From July 4th 2020 The British Acupuncture Council have given accredited members permission to start Careful Practice. Treatment is undertaken with PPE and disinfecting the clinic between patients. This means I can see all my patients with assessment of their needs, so will be glad to welcome my patients back and I will look after you with great care

Cancer Treatment and Acupuncture

There are times in life when you need some extra help, one of these is when you are told you have cancer, and then to go on to have surgery chemotherapy and may be radiotherapy.

These are all an enormous strain on your whole wellbeing, the taking in that you have this diagnosis, how you handle this and be able to function. Then there is the treatment with all its challenges.

The good news is that Traditional Five Element Acupuncture can give you a helping hand along the way. To tackle the emotions of the diagnosis, to support your recovery from surgery, to help with the emotional and physical side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy and help you move to the next stage of your life whatever the prognosis is after treatment.

Chemotherapy and radiotherapy can have short and long term side effects, such as nausea, flu like symptoms fatigue and exhaustion, hot flushes, pain, mouth, gum and throat sores, low immune system, anaemia, gastrointestinal problems – nausea, vomiting, constipation and diarrhoea, skin changes, hair loss, kidney and bladder problems and periferal neuropathy. Traditional Five Element Acupuncture may not get rid of all the side effects but can make you feel a whole lot better and supported.

I have treated over the years many patients before during and after cancer diagnosis. Working alongside western medicine to help with short and long side effects of the treatment, with recovery and/or end of life care.

I also treat and support relatives and friends of cancer patients as it can be so difficult being alongside a loved one who has to go through difficult treatment, which does not always have the desired effect. Supporting them with the grief and anxiety of loss or the joy and relief of their loved on being well again.

Relationships can be put under much strain at these times, Traditional Five Element Acupuncture can help with the Body, Mind and Spirit as each person embarks on this journey.
