Ulcerative Colitis and Acupuncture

Ulcerative Colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease which may affect people of any age or sex. Though usually in people aged 15 to 30 or over 60 years old.  Ulcerative Colitis is more common in western countries but growing around the world. Ulcerative Colitis is an inflammation within your system which can start in the rectum but can then affect the whole of the colon, often with pain and bleeding.

The exact reason why Ulcerative Colitis affects a person is not entirely known, though many factors may play a role – including genetic predisposition, gastrointestinal infections, medication, diet, and other environmental factors. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic relapsing intestinal disorder, each person has their individual triggers for their symptoms.

According to the traditional five element acupuncture tradition- greasy, spicy food, and alcohol can cause damp within your system, emotional strain and stress affect the smooth flow of Qi.

Living with the symptoms of this disease can, in turn, cause more stress creating a cycle that is difficult to break.

Traditional five element acupuncture can help you address the stress, emotional strain, strengthen your Qi and address the functionality of your system.

Hannah often treats chronic conditions finding that regular treatments reduce regularity, the severity of relapses with occasions when the disease is rarely present.

You can have traditional five element acupuncture alongside western medicine as well as a stand-alone treatment.
