At the first appointment, a full assessment of the patient’s medical history, any underlying health problems are taken, and a discussion about skin condition and concerns. The first treatment is constitutional cleansing treatment.

Thereafter the treatment involves firstly cleansing of the skin, then inserting hair-thin needles into specific points on the face, body points are also used to improve your general constitutional energy (Qi). The needles will be left in place for 20 minutes. The process is virtually painless and very relaxing. Following this the needles are removed and facial massage performed then Weleda serum and moisture cream applied to suit each individual’s skin condition as discussed.

A course of approximately ten treatments are recommended. Most patients notice a difference after one or two treatments, however, the effects become most noticeable and lasting after around six treatments. Each person responds differently, depending on the condition of their skin and lifestyle. Following the initial course of treatment, maintenance treatments of once a month can prolong the results for five to ten years.

Facial Acupuncture has none of the side-effects that invasive procedures such as surgery or Botox have. On rare occasions slight bruising may occur at the site of the needle, however, this disappears within a few days. Facial Acupuncture is also not suitable for people with high blood pressure, or people who bruise or bleed very easily or who are on any blood thinning medication.
