Acupuncture and Neck Pain

Neck Pain

Neck pain is one of the three most frequently reported complaints of the musculoskeletal system.  A large majority of the adult population can recall experiencing an episode of neck pain or stiffness in their lifetime

If you suffer from neck pain, chances are that you’re all too familiar with the sleepless nights, limited range of motion, and unrelenting pain that can make your life miserable. Neck pain can be chronic, which means that you’ve had it for a long time; or it can be acute, which is more recent and generally more severe.

There are a number of causes of neck pain, including trauma (whiplash), lifting bending and twisting, repetitive tasks and working at a computer with head in a flexed position, bad ergonomics, texting neck, drafts and degenerative neck disorders such as ankylosing spondylosis and cervical spondylosis.

One of the most common cause of neck pain, however, is stress. Most people who are overwhelmed and under a lot of stress will tell you that the physical manifestation of their stress is tightness, muscle knots, and pain in their neck and upper back. The pain can move upward causing headaches, tooth grinding, TMJ and jaw pain; or it can move downward and cause back pain, shoulder pain, arm and hand pain.

An antidote to neck pain is traditional five element acupuncture, it can help relieve the pain and tightness in your neck by increasing the circulation of blood and Qi, and it can also help to relieve stress. By treating you on the levels of body, mind and spirit, to bring your system in to better working order.
